And for those concerned about hardware, these can be had for as much as a baofeng. Then you just need Ethernet and power. I use a 12v to 5v buck converter to power it and just plug it in to powerpoles

As far as I know, it does not, hence the reason few are using it...however some organizations (EOCs) use them for quick conference calls...much quicker than setting up a zoom meeting.

I joined my Allstar node and our club Asterisk based PBX to the Meshphone network headed up by N2MH with plans to expand the reach of it as well across the AREDN network.

When HH first came out I was very interested in the tech from an EOC type operation. As I began to learn more and try to get involved I discovered the group running the program to be less than ham

I am on Hamshack Hotline (after being coerced by a friend to join ;^), and I too struggle with finding a real purpose for the tool in the average Ham's arsenal of tools.

Steve, I will answer the Hamshack Hotline question.
It is a VOIP (Voice over IP) service run by hams, free for hams...that is more like an internal (office) phone system and is not part of the normal
